Solo Spots: London
There’s little more fulfilling than carving out a little time spent entirely on your own, and August is the perfect time for it. Find a pocket of quiet in your weekend with some of our favourite London spots to see or spend time in solo. Start with intention and let the day unfold, from a new exhibition to lunch spots and flea markets…

Time Well Spent
Get your art fix: if it’s the last Friday of the month, book a spot at Tate Modern Lates to see the Edward Burra exhibition. If you fancy a stroll, head along Southbank towards the Garden Museum to catch the pop-up exhibition about the work of Bunny Mellon.
Spend a free evening at the Barbican Outdoor Cinema which is back this August, or finish a hot day at London's offering of lido's - our favourites are the Serpentine, West Reservoir, and the ponds at Hampstead.
Table for One
The ideal solo spot to eat depends on what you’re on the lookout for: riverside gems always hit the spot and are perfect for soaking up the sun - try Canal Restaurant, The River Café, or Towpath.
For a quieter day, grab the weekend papers and settle into a neighbourhood local: in central, try 180 Corner Shop; N5 Kitchen in North London; Monocle Café has plenty of magazines to choose from and a menu inspired by their writers’ travels.

Flea Finds
There’s no better way than to spend a free hour or two wandering around a flea market, whether you’re just window shopping or have a list to tick off. On our radar: Sunbury Antiques at Wimbledon, 17th August | St Albans Antique & Vintage Market (further afield), 17th August | Beckenham Vintage Fair, 25th August | Salad Days Market, 30-31st August | Hackney Flea Market, 30-31st August.
